Hours: 35 hours per week (Full-Time) or 7 hours per week (Part-Time)
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 9 am - 4 pm
Contract: Full-Time or Part-Time, Permanent, Term Time Only

This role is for a Specialist Further Education College based in the heart of Carlisle. You’ll be joining an organisation renowned for its strong values and commitment to providing innovative care and educational support for young adults with learning needs.
 

Your Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant / Learning Assistant, you will work within a Specialist Further Education College setting, supporting students aged 16+ who have learning or communication difficulties. You will be part of a dedicated team of Tutors and Learning Support Workers who deliver a holistic, supportive educational experience. This college offers excellent facilities and provides additional therapy and behavioural support via a multi-disciplinary team.

The college also partners with local employers and charities, ensuring students are engaged with the community and can develop valuable life skills.
 

  • Assist students within classroom settings and support their access to community-based activities.
  • Support students in developing life skills and provide assistance with personal care when needed.
  • Help create a safe and nurturing environment where students can thrive and achieve their full potential.
  • Work alongside students to promote their independence and comfort, ensuring their needs are met through tailored care plans.
  • Facilitate active participation in both college and community activities.
  • Communicate effectively to understand and meet the needs of the students, staff, and organisation.


Criteria

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Worker is desirable.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Experience within an educational setting is advantageous.
  • A passion for working with young people and a commitment to making a difference in their lives.
