Duties
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working alongside Specialist Tutors and a specialist team of therapists.  This role involves assisting learners with their educational, communication, and therapeutic needs while encouraging positive behaviour. The college offers access to a variety of excellent facilities and partners with local charities and employers to provide enriching experiences.

 
  • Assist Specialist Tutors in delivering tailored lessons and activities that support learners with their education and development.
  • Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and behaviour support staff.
  • Provide 1:1 and group support for students with physical disabilities and learning difficulties, helping them achieve their educational goals.
  • Encourage independence in daily activities and promote social integration through structured routines and positive reinforcement.
  • Support learners with communication challenges, using specialized techniques or tools as required.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment, addressing any safeguarding concerns in line with school policy.
Criteria
  • Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools.
  • Willingness to work towards further qualifications.
  • Experience working with children or young people would be an advantage.
  • Patience, understanding, and a dedicated approach to supporting learners.
  • A passion for making a difference in the lives of young people.
  • A desire to pursue a meaningful vocation in education.
