This role involves working within a Residential School for Children with Autism, social, emotional, ADHD, mental health needs, or communication difficulties.  This organization provides young people with the tools and opportunities to shape their own futures. Key Responsibilities:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your main role will be to support children with their learning and overall well-being, ensuring each child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment. This may occasionally include supporting with personal care needs and implementing positive behaviour management strategies tailored to each child.
 
  • Establishing a warm, caring, and supportive relationship with pupils, helping them feel safe and motivated to learn.
  • Encouraging independence and personal development while maintaining high standards of behaviour.
  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering high-quality, challenging, and differentiated educational activities through a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Supporting offsite learning activities, including topic trips, forest school, sports, and swimming lessons, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in various duties.

Essential Criteria:
  • Experience working with SEN in either an employed or voluntary setting.
  • Full UK driving license and access to your own car are desirable.
  • Recognized qualification at Level 2 or above in Support Work for Teaching and Learning in Schools, or an equivalent, is desirable.
  • GCSE Maths and English at Level 2/C or above is essential.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Knowledge or experience of working with pupils with SEN, SEMH, or ASD.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible.
  • Commitment to putting the child first and treating them as an individual.
  • Positive and creative approach in meeting pupils’ individual needs.
