Location: We are currently seeking an SEND Teacher to work in a specialist further education college based in Horsham, West Sussex. Ideal locations within a 30-minute commute by car include Billingshurst, Crawley, Worthing, Pulborough, Haywards Heath, and Dorking.

Your Role: As our SEND Teacher / Tutor, you will be based in a dynamic college environment led by specialist teachers. The college caters to students aged 19 and above, offering them tailored further education with the support of a multi-disciplinary team, including therapists and behavioural support professionals. The setting offers access to state-of-the-art facilities, provides valuable partnerships with local charities and employers, and is dedicated to helping students overcome challenges and achieve success.
Duties:
  • Design and deliver high-quality lessons using proven teaching methods that promote both academic and social development.
  • Implement various assessment tools to monitor and evaluate student progress consistently.
  • Take on a pastoral role, supporting students’ well-being and maintaining excellent communication with parents and carers.
  • Oversee the daily operations of your class, ensuring alignment with the college’s aims and objectives.
  • Lead and manage your classroom team effectively, fostering collaboration and teamwork.
  • Inspire confidence and trust among students, colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  • Contribute to the broader aspirations and values of the college, promoting its ethos in all activities.
  • Participate in college-wide initiatives as requested by the Lead Tutor, maintaining adherence to the protocols outlined in the college handbook.
  • Uphold safeguarding protocols, including engaging in all mandatory safeguarding training and annual refreshers.
